At the end of February, we traveled to San Francisco for GDC
to deliver a 30 minute postmortem for Salt and Sanctuary
. The talk will be available in the GDC vault
, though we don’t know yet if it will be publicly available or only to attendees. It was an amazing talk with a full room, and we were really surprised and humbled by the great reception. One never knows how these things will go, and we aren’t the best of public speakers, but we still put on our presenter hats and did our best.
We also posted a write-up covering most of the talk over at the PlayStation blog! Go read the postmortem over here!
Salt and Sanctuary
is now available in the Korean language! We launched on the morning of March 10th KST on Steam. You can check out some coverage already over at Inven
, and This is Game.
We now have this list of languages complete:
- Portuguese (Br)
We’re also working toward Russian, Polish and finishing Simplified Chinese. Traditional Chinese may be coming as well.
We’re in certification for the PSVita! We can’t get into details (there are a few, and they’re not pretty), but going live by the end of the month is looking within our grasp. Sadly, we won’t be able to hit the one year anniversary of the PlayStation 4 launch, which is coming up next Wednesday! We apologize to everyone who has been waiting so patiently. It was, for the most part, out of our hands, but we think the wait will be worth it.

Hey Ska friends! It’s been a long time, once again. I’ll start off with – no, there still is no release date for Vita. It’s been an uphill battle getting Monogame working with Vita but Sickhead Games and we are getting closer. We expect to submit to certification soon with a hopeful March time frame. That’s not an absolute promise but is the goal. As always, as soon as we can give a solid release date, we’ll be shouting it from the rooftops. The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile and Charlie Murder for Steam are also coming along nicely! We hope to have those two ready very soon.
We’ll be at the Independent Games Summit portion of GDC week, delivering a postmortem on Salt and Sanctuary. We’ll post notes or a blog around the week of GDC, covering the talk. If you happen to be there, “Postmortem: ‘Salt and Sanctuary‘” is Tuesday, February 28th at 3:50 PM PST.
If you follow our social media, you may have noticed we won a few awards in 2016! In December, we had the honor of flying to Tokyo, Japan to share the stage with some amazing games, accepting the PlayStation Awards’ Indies Special Award.
You can watch the entire show here on YouTube.
Salt and Sanctuary was played on Awesome Games Done Quick by Grimelios! I watched the stream live and have to admit, I found the Spindlebeast attempts very amusing. Mwahahaha.
Salt and Sanctuary made Game Informer’s Top 50 games of 2016!
Geeks Under Grace Interview
We won a Fexy Award for Best Value
We made another top 50 games of 2016 at Cultured Vultures
If you know Greek or perhaps want to try out your browser’s auto-translate, here’s an interview at Gamepad.gr.
Perhaps the most surreal award, after the PlayStation Award, is this Zero Punctuation top 5 Goodest Game of the year accolade. Quite the strange honor!
It was an amazing year for us and this year should be a good one, too! Keep an eye out next week for a Valentine’s Day treat! (Not Vita related, sorry!) Stay Salty. <3

We’re going to be at PlayStation Experience once again this December 3rd and 4th! Salt and Sanctuary will be there on PS4 and for the first time ever, playable on PSVita. We hope to be able to say soon when Salt and Sanctuary will be available on your PlayStation Vita handheld device, though we won’t know just yet. In the meantime, check it out at PSX! Hope to see you there!
